Story Avenue CSO 130 Basin

This EPA mandated project was created to reduce the number of overflows from the combined sewer system into nearby Beargrass Creek. The goal was accomplished by creating storm water green infrastructure improvements including the construction of permeable tree boxes and installation of pervious pavement roadway sections on and around historic Story Avenue in Butchertown neighborhood area.

The work consisted of connection of paver strips to existing drainage structures and drilling of shafts to promote tree well water infiltration, thus returning storm water into the natural sand strata. This American Public Works Association (APWA) award winning project was funded by grants from the EPA.
